What's New in Orchestry Beginning 2021?
Orchestry has been growing at an astonishing rate since it’s launch in 2020. With this has come a wealth of feedback and opportunity to learn as more Orchestry Partners are onboarded and more Orchestry customers are adopting the Microsoft 365 Work Made Simple platform. Orchestry has heard you and this is the first of many releases to deliver what you have requested during your rapid implementation, adoption and usage of the comprehensive governance, enablement and standardization platform.
As the first release of 2021, this is only a primer to what we will be continuing to improve upon and build throughout the year. We will be steadily releasing improvements and new features each month, so stay tuned for ample new features and capabilities that will be added to Orchestry this year.
If you are just getting started with Orchestry and want to learn more, feel free to schedule a short demo or request free access to begin your journey to Work Made Simple across Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online.
Managed Metadata Support / General Metadata Support Improvements
Orchestry now provides full support for Managed Metadata in Orchestry Workspace Requests, as well as in the informative Orchestry Workspace Directory. Additionally, the Metadata Editing experience has been improved, allowing you to name the underlying SharePoint column that it is linked to. Bonus, there is improved support for the crazy characters in choice value fields.
This means that you can now leverage the power of Terms Sets in your Governance processes with Orchestry – both when a user requests a Workspace as well as in the informative Orchestry Workspace Directory to help them find the Workspaces they need.
Workspace Requests: Editing, Restarting and Re-Approval before Provisioning
Unfortunately, not every Workspace Request will be perfect. There will be spelling mistakes or team members additions overlooked. Luckily, at Orchestry we are the forgiving kind and have made amends to allow Orchestry Administrators to edit the Workspace name, URL, permissions, owners and members of a Workspace Request all before approval.
As well, if a Workspace Request is rejected or fails, the requestor can also edit the request before resubmission for approval. Hence there is more than one way to correct a mistake and move on with Orchestry.
Orchestry Microsoft 365 Workspace Request History
In order to ensure that all Workspace Requests (including edits) are tracked, Orchestry now includes a Workspace Request History for each Workspace. Orchestry’s Workspace Request History tracks any edits, modifications, or additions to the original Workspace Request to provide a through history for each Workspace requested in Orchestry.
These improvements allow Orchestry Administrators to edit and modify Workspace Requests before approval, which is a significant time-saver for many of Orchestry’s Enterprise customers, as now Workspace Requests do not need to be rejected and resubmitted for minor errors and omissions. All an Orchestry Administrator needs to do is to edit the original Workspace Request and begin the provisioning process.
Orchestry Workspace Directory Enhancements
There have been some exciting enhancements made to the informative Orchestry Workspace Directory that you must not miss. First, now use Managed Metadata as a filter in the informative Orchestry Workspace Directory, plus, expand or retract columns as needed.
The informative Orchestry Workspace Directory view has now gained more versatility. Now show multiple columns of information in the Orchestry Workspace Directory to add further information, plus enable personalized Workspace Favorites to get end users to their most frequented Workspaces faster.
On the other hand, if you prefer to have more real estate for additional columns in your informative Orchestry Workspace Directory, disable the personalized Workspace Favorites for a different view and widen your column girth.
Stay tuned for further improvements, including additional features to the Orchestry Favoriting system for the Workspace Directory that will eliminate the burden of too many Workspace listings on your left-hand rail.
Orchestry People Listing Web Part Improvements
A consistently popular feature in Orchestry is the People Listing Web Part. Based on Orchestry Partner and Orchestry customer feedback, we have made the following improvements:
- Support accounts linked to different email addresses.
- Support for guests users.
- Ability for guest users to see all user profile pictures.
These improvements are powerful in enabling a more seamless Extranet or external collaboration scenario. For example, being able to see who the Project Team members are as a guest user.
Now see the full details of a user in the Orchestry People Listing Web Part, including the profile image, additional Azure Active Directory attributes and current status.
Orchestry Installation Page Updates
A new addition to the Orchestry Installation Page is the essential information about the Teams Application that is paired with Orchestry. This latest addition to the page will provide you the information on versions of the three components you are running:
- Microsoft Teams Application
- Microsoft Azure Application
- SPFx Web Parts
This critical information will info you if you are running the latest versions of these components before installing the Orchestry application.
